I have just returned from the National Retail Federation’s Big Show at the Javits Center in New York. Traffic seemed down, and the mood somewhat sombre. Even Lee Scott’s keynote was sobering, and as the President and CEO of Walmart he actually had something to cheer about – his sales (and stock price) have remained strong.
